Since ancient times, good things have not been bought with silver.
From now on, understand the Way and become the Lord’s slave.
May the tiger father pass on his qualities to a tiger son.

慈母主前傾心語
兒女日後愛主心
每日切切為之求
惟願勤勤讀聖經
母慈應是少敗子
子孝多傳主福音
主福音A loving mother pours out her heart before the Lord.
For her children to have hearts that love the Lord in days to come,
she earnestly prays for this every day.
May they diligently read the Bible.
A loving mother should have fewer wayward children.
A filial child spreads the Lord’s gospel widely.

兒女應有主之愛
紀念親恩深似海
主裏順從父母意
問寒問暖晨昏待
跪乳反哺都可學
救主臉上添光采

Remember their parents’ kindness, as deep as the sea.
In the Lord, obey their parents’ wishes.
Ask whether they are cold or warm, and attend to them morning and evening.
Both kneeling to suckle and returning food to one’s parents can be learned.
Add radiance to the Savior’s face.
Add to its radiance.

The complete one-page handwritten score credits David Tsang with words and music and is dated 1985. All three stanzas and their separately written second endings are included. One character in stanza 1 remains unclear and is marked at its exact position; no substitute has been supplied. 晨昏待 is retained as written. The tiger father and tiger son, and kneeling to suckle and returning food to a parent, preserve the lyric’s images of parental influence and filial care. The English is for reading; musical notation and performance repeats remain in the original score.
