Hymns
Since I Saw the Lord’s Face
The one hymn in this group he did not set himself: the words are his, the melody is Tam Chung-kwong’s. The second verse turns on 破釜沉舟 — smashing the cauldrons and sinking the boats, the classical idiom for destroying your own line of retreat.
4/4 · Words by David Tsang, music by Tam Chung-kwong · 1985

One
關心別人的救恩,不再自艾和自憐。Since I saw the Lord’s face, my life has been changed;
I care now for other people’s salvation, and no longer nurse my own regret and self-pity.
Two二
破釜沉舟不後悔,隨主引領直往前。Since I saw the Lord’s face, the clouds of doubt have cleared to open sky;
I have burned my boats and do not regret it, and follow straight on where the Lord leads.
Three三
世界全是我工場,要把福音盡傳遍。Since I saw the Lord’s face, I no longer live to make money;
the whole world is my workplace, and I will carry the gospel through all of it.
Refrain
God, add to my zeal; make me a new person who loves the Lord.
Lord, I say thank you — you bled for me, and keep the marks of the nails.
