Seven chapters arguing the gospel from the Hebrew and Greek, written after more than forty years on the gospel field. He says in his own preface that he has entered retirement, and that looking back he feels what Elijah felt: the Israel of that day “had forsaken the covenant of God,” while certain church people today “have twisted the word of God.”
共七章，據希伯來文與希臘文原文論福音，寫於福音工場四十餘年之後。他在自序中說已進入退隱之階段，回顧之下更能體會以利亞當年之感嘆：當年以色列民「背棄了神的約」，而現今某些教會人士則是「曲解了神的話」。
Chapter seven is the plainest statement he ever wrote of why he reads the original languages. He sets out eight places where he holds the Chinese Union Version departs from them — among them “a living soul” rendered “a living person,” and “the Holy Spirit as a gift” rendered “the Holy Spirit given” — gives the lexical evidence for each, and then says what each mistranslation costs the reader.
第七章最能見他為何堅持依原文釋經。他列舉他認為和合本偏離原文之八處——其中如「活著之靈魂」譯作「有靈的活人」，「聖靈為禮物」譯作「所賜的聖靈」——逐處舉出字義憑據，再逐一指出誤譯所致之害。

Source and editions原稿與版本
The Chinese is his own manuscript, held in the family archive. It carries three forewords — by Chu Cheong-lun of the Chinese Gospel Mission, by Law Sek-kin of Hong Kong, and by Luk Yiu-chu of New Jersey, dated 2014 — which are translated here as part of the book. The author’s note at the end is printed in the manuscript in Chinese and then again in his own English; both are kept, so his own wording of his church and book names stands as he wrote it. That English is the source for the names used in the author notes of his other books in this library.
中文為家人檔案所存之原稿。書前有三序，分別出中華福音使命團朱昌錂、香港羅錫堅、新澤西陸耀珠之手，署二〇一四年，今一併譯出，視為本書之一部分。書末〈作者簡介〉先有中文，後附他自寫之英文，今兩者並存，其教會與著作之英文名稱悉依他自己所書。本館其他各書之作者簡介，英文名稱亦據此。
Translated from the Chinese in September 2026 and checked against it section by section: every scripture reference compared, paragraph counts matched. Where he cites a reference that does not match the verse he quotes, his number is printed as he wrote it; one reference is ambiguous in the manuscript and the translation says so in place.
