A late book, in seven parts of three chapters each, on the difference between being a believer and being a disciple. He opens by saying he decided to “retire without resting” in order to finish it, and names what troubled him: churches that are not making disciples but “making believers of people who have not submitted to God’s sovereignty.”
晚年之作，共七篇，每篇三章，論信徒與門徒之別。開篇即言決定「退而不休」以完成此書，並直指所憂：教會沒有使人作門徒，不過是在「使未服神的主權者作信徒」而已。
The argument turns on a word. He holds that the Greek δουλος in Romans 1:1 means slave, not servant, and that translations which soften it have let readers keep the Lord’s blessing while declining His rule. Each part closes with practical applications and a poem of his own written to a classical tune.
全書立論繫於一字：他認為羅馬書一章一節之希臘文 δουλος 意為「奴隸」而非「僕人」，譯本既已軟化其義，讀者遂得以只要主的祝福而不要主的主權。每篇末附實際應用，並自作詞一首，各依古調。

Source and editions原稿與版本
The Chinese is his own manuscript, held in the family archive. In Part Six he introduces “three kinds of heart” the Lord showed and then lists only two — a mercy and a righteousness — with no third. The gap is in the manuscript and has been left as it stands rather than filled in.
中文為家人檔案所存之原稿。第陸篇言主曾顯出「三種心腸」，而下文僅列憐憫與公義二者，並無其三。此缺出自原稿，今照錄不補。
Translated from the Chinese in September 2026 and checked against it section by section: every scripture reference compared, paragraph counts matched. Where he cites a reference that does not match the verse he quotes, his number is printed as he wrote it; one reference carries a stray chapter number, and the translation says so in place rather than passing over it.
